Freezin' for a worthy reason!

When my family first attended Camp Sunshine in 1996, we had no idea what an important part of our lives it would continue to be for decades to come. A week at Camp Sunshine is a unique week full of fun, respite, and hope for the entire family of a child facing a life-threatening illness. As a former camp participant, a longtime camp volunteer, and a pediatric oncology nurse, I know firsthand just how valuable to families the support is that they experience at Camp Sunshine. There aren't many reasons I would willingly subject myself to an icy mid-winter plunge, but this is one!
Since we started the Virginia Polar Dip in 2008, the event has raised >$825,000 for Camp Sunshine. Our goal is still to hit the $1 million mark! All funds raised by this event allow families from the mid-Atlantic region to enjoy the respite that camp offers at no cost to them. While unable to host in-person sessions due to the pandemic, Camp Sunshine has continued to support families through at-home activities and virtual community events.
I recognize that the past years have been full of hardship for many and that there are countless worthy causes to support. If you are so moved, I would most appreciate your support of this deserving organization through a donation or by signing up to freeze with me!
